And the Survey Says

This summer, I did an article in response to new survey results from Pew Forum on Religion and Public life. Among other things, the survey found that overwhelmingly, Americans believe in God. It also found that a large majority of us believe that other religions, other than our own, can lead to eternal life. This even rang true for evangelicals, whose churches generally adhere to the doctrine that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life, and the only way to heaven.

Many asked Pew whether people understood the question. In response, they asked the question again in August, releasing the results just last week.

Charles M. Blow did an op-ed column on the topic for today's NY Times. It's called "Heaven for the Godless?" and it's currently one of the most e-mailed items on the site.
